BIG BARGAIN BAZAAR 2008 SALE FOR MIDLANDS-BASED FLOOD HEROES The Severn Hall at the Three Counties Showground was the venue for the Big Bargain Bazaar fundraising gift fair on the Wednesday February 13. This first ever Sale of Sales brought together thirty-five Charity Fairs Association stallholders from all over the UK: most were new to the area and all were offering dazzling discounts off hundreds of desirable designer-led lines. Dedicated to supporting the work of County Air Ambulance and Mercia Inshore Search and Rescue, the event provided a unique opportunity to recognise and reward the important contributions of these extremely valuable emergency services. The proceeds of the Raffle and Tombola, commission from the stalls, door money and other donations - altogether amounting to more than £1,800 - is all being donated to these two Charities. Second-year students of Circomedia circus school treated visitors to cameo performances, introduced by ‘The Flying Doctor’, Russell Jones (who is a trapeze artist, Pilates instructor and medical doctor at Bristol Children’s Hospital). MC for the day was the actor Trevor Harrison MBE who plays the part of The Archers’ Eddie Grundy on BBC Radio 4. Charlotte Carver (a founder member of the Charity Fairs Association) organised this event, hugely supported by many kind volunteers and sponsors - especially the Three Counties Showground, Colour House Digital Offset, Malvernspa, the Drapers’ Company, The Working Lunch Co., Relish Catering and St James’s Place Partnership. She would like to thank all who became involved, including more than 400 visitors who contributed to making this first Sale of Sales such a success. “It was a really happy day and I’m already being asked by customers and friends to run another next year - so watch this space!” says Charlotte. Even if you didn’t make the Sale of Sales this on 13th February, there’s still time to send a donation and receive a complimentary copy of The Little Guide to The Big Bargain Bazaar.
